Minnie “Irene” (Loy) Pocrnich, 81, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2018, at her home.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Home with burial in Loy Cemetery, Effingham. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Minnie Irene (Loy) Pocrnich was born on September 13, 1937 in Effingham, IL, to Ralph and Caroline (Hook) Loy. She married Mark Pocrnich on November 3, 1956 and he preceded her in death on March 6, 2002.

Irene worked at the Illinois Glove Company for 30 years and 5 years with the Effingham Daily News delivering papers on country routes. She loved her family and worked hard for them. Irene was the best cook ever. She loved gardening, fishing, and artistry. She enjoyed freehand painting, even painting the scenes at the Sportsman’s Inn. She also would paint Christmas scenes on windows for downtown Effingham and the Edgewood Post Office. Most importantly, she was strong-willed and a fighter.

Irene is survived by her children, Marty, deceased (wife, Gail) Pocrnich, Cyndi (husband, Darrell) Malick, Chris (husband deceased, Andy) Hutson, Kevin Pocrnich (Amy Mayfield), Lee Ann (husband, Craig) Smith, Tim Pocrnich, and Travis Pocrnich; one special friend, Dale Hille; and sisters, Virginia Wendt, Mary Lou (Ervin) Yocum, Rita Yocum, Susie (Jim) Feldhake, and Judy (David) Ochs. She left many grandchildren, Cindi, Maria, Andy Lee, Tony, Stefanie, Jake, Jamie, Laine, Devin, Saxon, Wes, Alexis, Marcus, Logann; step granddaughter, Jenna; many great-grandchildren; and lots of relation.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mark; son, Marty; grandson, Howard Lee Hutson; son-in-law, Andy; step-grandchild, Jade; and brother, Robert Loy.
