Virginia B. Connelly, 93, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away peacefully at 5:35 a.m. Thursday, November 8, 2018 in Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 10 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Kevin Ray officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL.

Virginia was born on June 2, 1925 in Pauls Valley, OK, the daughter of James Claude and Nettie (Shelton) Tutt. She married Robert S. Connelly on November 15, 1942 in Joliet, IL. When her husband went into the service, she worked as a waitress in Lake Tahoe and then supported the war effort in the shipyard in Vanport City, Oregon. After moving back to Shelbyville, she worked at The Garment Factory before opening and operating Connelly’s Building Center with her husband, Robert, for more than 50 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Shelbyville, IL.

She is survived by her daughter, Ginnie Hostetler of Shelbyville, IL; brother, Al Tutt (Ramona) of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughters, Rebecca Mahnke (Tyson) and Elizabeth Hawkins, both of Shelbyville, IL; great grandchildren, Sydney Blades (Brandon), Andrew Hawkins, Victoria Lofthouse (Gus), Katherine Honigman, and Alex Hawkins; great-great grandsons, Todd, Wesley, and Clyde Blades; nephew Don Reynolds (Nina) of Decatur, IL; and nieces, Carol Woods and Cheryl Welton both of Shelbyville, IL and Cherie Buatte (Dave) of Bethalto, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Connelly; son, Scott Connelly; son-in-law, Richard Hostetler; sisters, Dorothy McKissick and Kay Gooseman; brothers, Jack and Bob Tutt; brother-in-law, Charles Reynolds; and sister-in-law, Wilma Reynolds.

Memorials may be given to First Christian Church of Shelbyville, IL.
