Bryan D. Gier, 51, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018 at his home.
Memorial services will be held at 12 noon Friday, October 26 at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham, IL 62401. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Teutopolis. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon Friday prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Effingham D.A.V. Chapter 7, 405 Vulcan Drive, Effingham, IL 62401. Bryan was born on October 3, 1967 in Effingham, IL, the son of Theodore and Ruth (Grunloh) Gier. Bryan was a graduate of Effingham High School Class of 1985. He was formerly employed at Kingery Printing. Bryan enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. He loved baseball and especially the Chicago Cubs. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Bryan was a loving son, brother, and uncle.
Bryan is survived by his mother, Ruth Gier of Effingham; sisters, Karla (Charles III) Sparks of Decatur, IL and Janis (Alan) Pacocha of Eureka, IL; nieces, Ellen (Seth) Rattin, Theresa Sparks, Carolyn Pacocha, and Allison Pacocha; and great-niece, Sarah Rattin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ted Gier.
