Edith Fern Maxwell, 102, of Windsor, IL, passed away at 6:42 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL.

Edith was born June 28, 1916, in Rose Township near Shelbyville, the daughter of Louis Cleveland and Edna Pearl (Lupton) Peek. She was a graduate of Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1931 and also a graduate of Sparks Business College in Shelbyville. She married Ruble Maxwell on March 19, 1938 in Windsor and together they enjoyed 45 wonderful years before his passing on August 2, 1983. Edith worked for Northern Propane Gas in Windsor and retired from Ferrell Gas where she served as the bookkeeper. She was a member of the Windsor Christian Church and enjoyed playing piano, playing cards, working crossword puzzles and camping.

She is survived by daughter, Patricia (David) Gass of Moberly, MO; son, Rodney (Shirley) Maxwell of Windsor; five grandchildren: J.W. Gass, Alicia (Shawn) Regan all of Moberly, MO, Kyle (Kristen) Maxwell of The Woodlands, TX, Beth (Chase) Kull of Sullivan and Haley Maxwell of Windsor; four great-grandchildren: Gage Mast, Morgan Regan, Callie and Cooper Maxwell.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Ruble, brother Warren Peek and sister Phyllis Sexson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 19 at Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor with Reverend Richard Eident officiating. Burial will take place in Glenwood Cemetery in Shelbyville. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established for the Windsor Christian Church or the Peace Meal, %Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Foundation, 1000 Health Center Drive, Mattoon, IL 61938.
