Carol R. Elbert, 80, of Shelbyville, IL passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, September 30, 2018 after a brief illness.

Carol was born April 21, 1938, in Windsor Township, to Harmon and Gladys (Helton) Davis. She and Victor Max Elbert Jr. were united in marriage on June 28, 1958 and were blessed with 57 wonderful years together before his passing on January 11, 2016. Carol worked at Bairds Root Beer Stand, Dog-n-Suds, McCoy Richardson Funeral Home, Kessler & Howe Funeral Home, Shelby Memorial Hospital, ASC Office, Guys Steak House, Hardee’s and Clark Oil for 19 years. She was a graduate of Sparks Business College in Shelbyville, a member of the Church of Christ, the Moose Lodge and a Charter member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls receiving the Grand Cross of Color. Carol also spent many years volunteering with the area youth serving as a 4-H Leader.

Surviving are daughter, Deb Elbert; son, Dan Elbert; daughter, Mary (Lee) Muscott all of Shelbyville; grandchildren: Alicia, Kristina, Amber, Vesta, Sidney, Arin and Ashlie; great-grandchildren: Chandler, Cabella, Destiney, Brooklynn, Wesson, Sophia and Isaac; step-grandchildren: Preston and Alexus and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Harmon and Gladys; husband, Victor Max Elbert Jr, one great-grandson and brother, David.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 4 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville with Reverend David Middleton officiating. Burial will take place in Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Lockart-Green Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children. Family request casual attire.
