Cecil Paul Richey, 93 of Effingham, passed away Friday morning, September 28, 2018 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 3 at First Christian Church in Effingham, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with a 7:30 p.m. Masonic service. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral Wednesday morning at the church.

Cecil was born November 17, 1924 in Gila, the son of Roy and Cloa (Cox) Richey. He married Alice M. Horath on March 23, 1943 and she preceded him in death. Cecil served with the United States Air Force during World War II. He was employed as a prison guard for the Department of Corrections for over 27 years. Cecil was a member of the First Christian Church in Effingham, Masonic Lodge #16, Scottish Rite and a lifetime member of the Dieterich American Legion Post #620.

Cecil is survived by his son, Paul (Linda) Richey of Haines City, FL; daughters, Patricia Larson of Sheffield and Marian (Dennis) Bushue of Effingham; sisters, Edith Knierim of Effingham, Ann DeBrosnski of Garden Grove, CA and Ruby (Ramon) Tate of Rockville, MD; 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; wife; grandson, John Larson; son-in-law, Roy Larson and brothers, Wilford, Dan and Ed Richey.
