Robert Glenn Lambird, 85, of Newton passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2019 at Lakeland Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 22 at the Trexler Cemetery with Rev. Kenny Miller and Pastor Amy Jeffries officiating. Masonic rites will be offered by Winterrowd Masonic Lodge No. 664 A. F. & A.M. Interment will be in the Trexler Cemetery, rural Jasper County, Illinois. Crain Funeral Home, Newton is assisting with the arrangements.

Bob was born on April 26, 1933 in Olney, Illinois the son of Walter Eden and Catherine (Prater) Lambird. On March 13, 1955, Bob married Anna Belle McDaniel and she survives. Bob worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation. He began working in Effingham County with the road crew and later transferred to Jasper County as lead worker until his retirement after 28 years of service. Being raised on the family farm, Bob began farming on the home place at age 12, continuing throughout his life. Bob was a member of the Kedron United Methodist Church and a 50 year member of Winterrowd Masonic Lodge No 664 A.F. & A.M. Bob enjoyed being outdoors spending his time hunting, fishing at the river, and gardening with his wife Anna Belle.

Bob will be loved and remembered by his wife of 63 years Anna Belle Lambird of Newton; sons Walter (Chai) Lambird of Newton, Nathan Lambird of Yale, Richard Lambird of Newton, and David (Jennie) Lambird of rural Newton; three grandsons, three granddaughters, three great grandsons, one great great granddaughter, one step-grandson; many nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law Karel Lambird of Greeley, CO.

His parents, infant brother David Lambird and brothers Keith Lambird and Cyril Lambird preceded him in death.

Memorial gifts in honor of Bob may be made to the Newton Ministerial Association Christmas Food Baskets or to the donor’s choice.
