Bill G. West, 91, of Shelbyville, Illinois, passed away at 6:40 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2018 in Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 19 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Tim Yankee officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. and one hour before services on Wednesday both in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home. Casual attire is requested by the family. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with military rites by the Shelby Co. Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to his family to be used in appreciation of the staff on the 600 Hall at Shelbyville Manor.

Bill was born on March 1, 1927 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Walter Roy and Jesse Beatrice Bryson West. He attended Shelbyville Schools and was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. Bill married Dolores June Rothrock on July 5, 1949 in Rockford, Illinois and she preceded him in death on December 23, 1990. He worked for Oliver Corporation for 23 years, Ambulance Service for 10 years, City Police Department for 10 years, Glenwood Cemetery for two years, and was a crossing guard for the school all in Shelbyville. He enjoyed horses, hunting, and fishing. Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church in Shelbyville, IL and VFW Post #4829 of Shelbyville.

He is survived by his son, Danny West (Chris) of Mt. Vernon, IL; daughters, Betty Stigers (Russell) of Shelbyville, IL, Cindy West of Shelbyville, IL, and Penny Miller (Robert) of Mode, IL; fourteen grandchild twenty-four great-grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dolores; son, Bill West, Jr.; four brothers; four sisters; one grandson; and one granddaughter.
