Kenton DeWayne Sidener, 63, residing at the Eastern Star Home in Macon, IL passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

A masonic service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Macon with the funeral service immediately following. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation one hour prior to the service. DeWayne will be laid to rest in South Macon Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Eastern Star Home, Macon, IL.

DeWayne was born on January 10, 1955 in Vandalia, IL to Harry and Mary (Willis) Cooley. At the age of 6 was adopted by Winton and Anita Sidener of Altamont, IL. He went to auto mechanic school after graduating from Altamont High School. DeWayne loved working on engines, helping his adoptive dad on the farm, loved Harleys and attending auctions. He was proud to be a Master Mason. DeWayne was a truck driver for many years driving from Effingham to Chicago delivering mail. After a major heart attack in 2000, he worked for the Illinois Secretary of State until his retirement. He was a very loving and giving person and will be missed by his family, friends and the staff from Eastern Star.

DeWayne is survived by his adoptive mother: Anita Sidener and adoptive sisters: Sandy (Jim) Beccue and Patty (Lynn) Tappendorf all of the Altamont area. Also surviving are his birth siblings: Sharon Farlow of Marion, IL, Ethel (John) Corrie of Maryville, IL, Ralph (Janet) Landrus of Mattoon, IL, Mary Ann (George) Schoen of La Mesa, AZ, Nellie Logan of Buffalo, IL, Shirley Jean (Charles Fuesting) Beckmeir of Effingham, IL, James (Julia) Weaver of Guin, AL and Lillie Stevens of Effingham, IL; sister-in-law: Cheri Freeman of Peru, IN; son: Jason (Rachael) Sidener of Taylorville, IL and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his adoptive father, his birth parents, sister: Ruth Anne Ivy and his brother: Charles “Chuck” Freeman.
