Oneida Lewis, 95, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Lakeland Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 27 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Ingraham Cemetery in Ingraham. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Oneida was born on September 10, 1922, in Roosevelt, AR, the daughter of Jesse Lee and Betty Ruth (Finley) McAdams. She was united in marriage to Lowell Lewis on March 15, 1946 in Little Rock, AR, and he preceded her in death on September 28, 1993. Oneida was a loving wife and mother who raised her four children. She enjoyed flower arranging and worked at several area flower shops. Oneida sewed almost every day of her life. She sewed for the public and made quilts for Head Start Preschool. She also loved her garden. She was a member of Home Extension, Green Thumb Garden Club, and the First Christian Church.

Oneida is survived by her children, Dan (Linda) Lewis of Effingham, Dean Lewis of Vandalia, and Cheryl (Richard) Beatt of Effingham; son-in-law, William Like of Vincennes, IN; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Ruth (Corky) Wood of Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Glenda Like; granddaughter, Cindy Drees; 3 brothers, Ralph, Leroy and John; and sister, Fern Williams.
