Kale Denton Black, 23, of Iuka, Illinois passed away Monday, August 13, 2018 in Marion County, Illinois.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 18 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood. There will be a one-hour viewing prior to the service. Rusty Courson will be officiating. Burial will be at Leith Cemetery in rural Mason. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 17 at Brown’s Christian Church in Omega. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that memorials go to Pagel Funeral Homes to offset funeral expenses, Leith Cemetery or the donor’s choice. Kale was born July 26, 1995 in Effingham, the son of Carl D. and Erma Jean (Webster) Black. He graduated from South Central High School in Farina in 2013 and then attended Kaskaskia College in Centralia. Kale played the trumpet all throughout school and played in the Kaskaskia College band. He enjoyed playing and listening to music, tinkering with computers, playing his piano, camping and spending time with his family and friends.  

He is survived by his parents, Carl and Erma Jean Black of Iuka; brothers, Neil Hollinshead (wife Stacey) of Mason, Clint Hollinshead (wife Sara) of Clermont, Florida, Dustin Hollinshead (wife Katie) of Mason, Jesse Hollinshead (wife Stephanie) of Mason, Marty Black (wife Patricia) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, CJ Black of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sisters, Manuela Black of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Cindy Black of Colorado Springs, Colorado; girlfriend, Aleea Halterman of Centralia; grandfather, Howard Webster of Mason; several nieces and nephews and one great-nephew.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Carl Black Sr. and Katherine Charleston; maternal grandmother, Eldine Webster and step-grandmother, Bonnie Webster.
