Florence M. Koester, 106, of Teutopolis, Illinois died early Wednesday morning, August 15, 2018 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 20 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the church, with a 1:30 p.m. rosary and 3:00 p.m. parish prayer service. Memorial donations may be made to donor’s choice.

Florence was born April 9, 1912 in Teutopolis, the daughter of Ferd and Anna (Bertrum) Wernsing. She married Bernard “Dick” Hardiek in 1933 and they were the parents of four children. Dick preceded her in death in 1938. In 1958, Florence married Herman Koester and he preceded her in death in 1980. Florence was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis, St. Francis Council of Catholic Women, the Hospital Auxiliary and was employed for 35 years at the Illinois Glove Factory.

Florence is survived by her son, Kenneth (Barb) Hardiek and daughter, Patricia (Joe) Weis, both of Teutopolis; 11 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 11 step-great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents; son, William; daughter, Carol; two step-sons, Jack Koester and Tom Koester; three brothers, one brother and two sisters as infants.
