Teresa C. Yakle (85) of Shumway

Teresa C. Yakle, 85 of Shumway, passed away Monday morning, August 13, 2018 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.

Teresa was born November 3, 1932 in Atwood, the daughter of Joseph and Mildred (Utsler) Wilcoxen. She married John W. Yakle on March 6, 1962 in Springfield and she traveled with him while he was in the military. John preceded her in death in 2007. Teresa was a beautician and a member of the Eastern Star. When her husband retired, they settled in Decatur, where she worked for the Faries Park Golf Course. 

Teresa was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She sacrificed for her family and will be terribly missed. Survivors include her children, Joe (Karen) Dukeman of Atwood, Julie (Thomas) Means of Shumway and John W. Yakle Jr. of Decatur; sisters, Marilyn Birch of Crown Point, IN and Sue Davis of Gilbert, AZ. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, Daniel (Nichole) Goebel, whom she practically raised, Alyssa Dukeman, Logan Dukeman, Aryn Yakle and Andrew Yakle. Teresa is also survived by her special great-grandson, Matthew Goebel, as well as several nieces and nephews. 

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Joann Portwood.
