Mrs. Celeste D. (Menke) Keller (105) of Decatur and formerly of Ste. Marie, Illinois, passed away at 10:02 PM - Saturday, August 11, 2018, at the Randall Residence of Decatur in Decatur, Illinois.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM – Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, Illinois, with Fr. Dean Probst celebrating mass.  Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ste. Marie, Illinois.  Visitation will be held 1 hour before the mass.  Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.  The obituary can be viewed and condolences left by clicking here.

Celeste was born on November 29, 1912, in Ste. Marie, Illinois, the daughter of Henry Menke and Josephine (Weimer) Menke.  She married Francis Joseph “Frank” Keller on September 27, 1937, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on January 24, 1982.

Celeste was a homemaker and a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, Illinois.  She also was a member of the St. Mary’s Altar Society and the Jasper County Home Extension.

Celeste is survived by: Daughters – June (Vincent) Zuber of Assumption, Illinois and Jean Smith of Decatur, Illinois.

Grandchildren – Ron (Ellen) Zuber of Decatur, Illinois; Mark Zuber of Assumption, Illinois; Mike (Melissa) Zuber of Assumption, Illinois; Pam (John) Vidmar of Assumption, Illinois; Steve (Lori) Zuber of St. Louis, Missouri; Tom (Lynn) Zuber of St. Louis, Missouri: Bob Zuber of Chicago, Illinois.

Step Grandchildren - Sarah Rubel of Raleigh, North Carolina; Robert (Donna) Smith of Pella, Iowa  and Paul Smith of Canton, Ohio. 

12 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren.

Celeste was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law Robert Smith, brothers Leonard, Clarence and Florent Menke and a sister Eulalia Ochs.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the care that was shown to Celeste at the memory care unit of Randall Residence of Decatur.
