David T. "Dude" Evans (83) of Beecher City

David T. “Dude” Evans, 83, of Beecher City, IL passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 4 at Evangel United Methodist Church in Beecher City with Reverend Paul Bauer officiating. Burial will take place in Mound Cemetery in Cowden. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday at the church. Memorials may be made in David’s name to the Evangel United Methodist Church in Beecher City.

David was born on November 26, 1934, in Dry Point Township, the son of Charles C. and Verna I. (Harris) Evans. He married Norma J. Nelson on April 14, 1956 and she preceded him in death on November 11, 2010. David then married Joan Hudson on January 28, 2012. He was a graduate of Cowden High School in the Class of 1953 and was a member of the Evangel United Methodist Church in Beecher City. David worked as a heavy equipment operator with the International Union of Operating Engineers in Terre Haute, IN for 40 years. He enjoyed gardening and time spent with family.

Survivors include his wife, Joan of Beecher City; children: Marla Helmuth of Beecher City, David C. (Yvonne) Evans of Altamont, Keith A. Evans of Altamont and Laura J. Evans of Beecher City; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; stepchildren: Leslie Wood of Beecher City, Mark Wood of Beecher City and Lisa Kopf of Charleston; three step grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; sisters: Catherine Jennings of Beecher City, Shirley (Ray) Lee of Riverton and Ruth Childress of Shelbyville and brother, Cecil Evans of Shelbyville.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Charles and Verna Evans; first wife, Norma Evans; son, Brian Evans; brothers, Charles Evans, Jerry Evans and John Evans at infancy.
