Ronald J. “Ronnie” Greuel, 72, of Effingham, IL, passed away at 12:55 p.m. on Monday, July 30, 2018 at Evergreen Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 4 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday with a 7:00 p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Ronald was born on April 6, 1946, in Effingham, IL, to Aloys and Celeste (Koelsch) Greuel. He was united in marriage to Marlene Bushur on September 2, 1967 and they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family. Ronnie worked in shipping and receiving at Crossroads for 28 years. He enjoyed being with his family, deer hunting, fishing, and doing woodworking. Ronnie was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and the Effingham Council 665 Knights of Columbus.

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Marlene Greuel of Effingham, sons, Doug (Brigit) Greuel of Stewardson and Darin Greuel of Effingham and his fiancée Misty Schneider of Pocahontas; grandsons, Craig Greuel and Schafer Greuel both of Stewardson; and siblings, Patricia (Cecil) Lugar of Decatur, Donald (Debbie) Greuel of Green Creek, and Rita Greuel of Effingham; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
