Max Eugene “Gene” VanSant, 60, of Effingham, IL, passed away on July 22,2018 in Effingham. Max Eugene “Gene” VanSant, 60, of Effingham, IL, passed away on July 22,2018 in Effingham. 

Cremation rites will be accorded. Private family graveside services at VanSant Cemetery in Effingham, will be held at later date.

Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family.

Max Eugene was born on June 19, 1958, in Effingham, IL, the son of Max Jr. and Ellnora (Larimer) VanSant. Gene owned and operated VanSant Implement for many years. He was a collector of knives and Farmall tractors. Gene found joy in going to auctions and other sales. He liked coon hunting and being with his favorite dog, Molly. Gene also loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews.

Gene is survived by his brothers, William “Billy” VanSant of Effingham, and Dennis (Kim) VanSant of Marshall; sisters, Shirley (Donald) Cotton of Neoga, Virginia “Jenny” (Paul) Spour of Sigel, Tammy (Mike) Delaney of Altamont, Loretta (Bob “Mickey”) Nelson of Marshall, and Rita (Rich) Heuermann of Mattoon; many nieces and nephews; and good friend, Chester Burgess.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents.
