Lucas Roberto Mason Ahten (23) of Altamont

Lucas Roberto Mason Ahten, 23, of Altamont, IL, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, due to an accident.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 23 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altamont. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Effingham at a later date. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Lucas was born on March 9, 1995, in Mixco, Guatemala, the son of Randy G. “Bub” and Susan E. (Mason) Ahten. He attended Altamont Lutheran Interparish School and graduated from Altamont High School in 2013. Lucas had a passion for music and playing guitar. He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed playing soccer. He also enjoyed fishing with his dad. Most important, Lucas had a big heart, contagious smile, and was always there for family and friends. His nephew, Landon “Tubs”, was very special to him.

Lucas is survived by his mother, Susan Ahten of Altamont; sister, Jorri (Don) Webster of Farina; and nephew, Landon Webster of Farina; brother, Andrew (Tara) Morris and family of Michigan; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Randy; and paternal and maternal grandparents.
