Loran D. Yates, 84, of Tower Hill, IL passed away at 4:50 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2018 at the Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Shelbyville, IL.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville with Pastor Tim Moats officiating. Burial will be in Tower Hill Cemetery with military rites performed by Shelby County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Loran was born on December 30, 1933, in Decatur, IL, the son of Orville and Theodocia (Standafer) Yates. Loran married Sandra (Pinkley) Yates on June 14, 1953. Loran was a United States Naval Veteran stationed in Cuba and the Virgin Islands. He was aboard the Mini Sweeper USS Ransom. Loran, together with his wife Sandra, owned and operated the Double Dave Concession Trailer for 25 years.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sandra of Tower Hill; sons: Dennis Yates of Tower Hill and Stephen Yates of Pana; daughter, Florence Hubrich of Decatur; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; brothers: Jim Yates of CA and Bob (Lauranell) of Spokane, WA and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.

Loran’s family wishes to thank the staff at Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center for their caring and love shown to Loran and his family. No one could be more caring.
