William Henry Boswell Sr., 78, of Toledo, IL passed away at 3:48 pm Friday, June 29, 2018 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 6 at 10:00 AM at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Toledo Cemetery.

Bill was born on December 11, 1939 in Cumberland County Illinois to Robert and Josephine (McClain) Boswell. He married Norma Ingram on January 17, 1958 and she preceded him in September of 2016.

Surviving sons William “Bill” (Lisa) Boswell Jr. of Marshall, IL and Byron (Amy) Boswell of Greenup, IL; grandchildren David (Courtney) Altmeyer, Tiffany Porter, Jamie (Alan) Borntreger, Hannah Boswell, Kristina Henson, William (Lacy) Boswell III, Courtney Sanders; great-grandchildren Charleigh, Mathew, William IV, Preston, Carter and Conner Boswell, Lilly Sanders, Cassandra, Anthony, Bradley, Andrew and Natalie Altmeyer, Emily Porter, Taran and Bre-Ann Borntreger, Raegan and Nakarri Drum; brothers Joe (Linda) Boswell of Louisville, IL and Ed (Sue) Boswell of Effingham, IL; sister Debra Cordes of Villa Grove, IL; brother-in-law John Wilson.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, children Kenneth, Robert, and twins Ronnie and Connie, brother Darrell Boswell, and sisters Emma, Pat, Alice, Betty, and Clara; and one grandchild Emma.

Bill worked for 35 years at Ben Tire in Toledo where he started as a truck driver and when retired was superintendent of warehousing. Bill was a past member of the Toledo Volunteer Fire Department where he was also fire chief.
