Cressie June Salyers, 80, of Newton, Illinois passed away at her home Monday, June 11, 2018 in Newton.

Funeral services celebrating Cressie’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 15 at the Bogota Baptist Church, Bogota. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service in the church. Burial will be in the Honey Cemetery, Bogota. Memorial gifts for Cressie may be made to the Honey Cemetery Care Fund. Online condolences may be left by clicking here.

Cressie was born May 20, 1938 in Jasper County, the daughter of Delbert and Wanda (Worthey) Bailey. On January 29, 1955, Cressie married John W. Salyers. He preceded her in death November 10, 2012. In addition to being a wife and mother, Cressie spent her life as a home health care provider. Loving the country life, Cressie enjoyed gardening, canning, and camping. She also enjoyed riding with John in the semi-truck. She was a member of the Bogota Baptist Church. Her life was devoted to caring for her family and others in her community.

Cressie will be loved and remembered by her son William “Bill” Salyers, wife Carolyn of Newton; daughters Regena Dossey and Lisa Wetherholt, husband Scott both of Newton; daughter-in-law Rebecca Salyers of Wheeler; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister Rita Carol Bower of Newton.

Her parents, husband John, son Wesley Salyers, two great-grandchildren and brother Wayne Bailey preceded her in death.
