Evelyn Matson Clark age 91 of Newton passed away Friday, June 1, 2018 at Willowbrook of Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 5 at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton with Rev. Rob Dillingham officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday and from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until time of service in the funeral home. Burial will be in the West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Newton.
Evelyn was born on June 26, 1926 near Falmouth, Illinois to Vernon D. and Alice (Romack) Matson. She married Edison B. Clark on March 3, 1946. They were life-long farmers and were married for sixty-two years. He preceded her in death on September 3, 2007. Evelyn was a faithful member of the Falmouth United Methodist Church. Evelyn enjoyed quilting, embroidery and flower gardening. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed family gatherings.
Evelyn is survived by daughters Janet (Dale) Jahraus of St. Peter and Cheryl Dyer of Effingham; five grandchildren Kristen (Brendan) Andrews of Parker, CO, Jared (Megan) Jahraus of Springfield, Deidre (Tom) Freer of Athens, Tom (Katie) Wise of Lake Zurich, and Ann (Alex) Cruz of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. Evelyn had twelve great-grandchildren Gavin and Dominic Van Scyoc, Daniel, Evan, and Liam Andrews, Jacob and Kaelyn Jahraus, Connor, Tyler and Ryan Wise and Mya and Leo Cruz and many nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband, sister and brother-in-law Lanore and Arlin Tarr, brother and sister-in-law Leslie and Mildred Matson, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Lindell and Aileen Clark, niece Jeanette Clark, nephews Dr. Dennis Clark and Rex Tarr and son-in-law Dr. Eric L. Dyer preceded her in death.
Memorial gifts in honor of Evelyn may be made to either the Falmouth United Methodist Church or to the donor’s choice.
