Grace M. Frey (87) of Effingham, formerly of rural Stewardson

Grace M. Frey, 87, of Effingham, Illinois formerly of rural Stewardson, Illinois, passed away at 10:09 P.M. Monday, May 21, 2018, at her residence.

She was born September 26, 1930, in Blue Island, Illinois, the daughter of Carl and Laura (Doermann) Sievert. She married Rev. David F. Frey, September 5, 1954, in Blue Island, Illinois. Rev. Frey passed away June 18, 2014. Mrs. Frey was a retired school teacher after twenty-six years of teaching. She taught in Beecher City Unit # 20, of Beecher City, Illinois. She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, St. Paul's Ladies Aid and she also sang in the Church Choir in Sigel, IL, E.A.S.T.E.R. Class and was a Volunteer at the Effingham Life Center.

Mrs. Frey leaves two sons, Tim D. Frey of rural Stewardson, Illinois and Dan Frey and wife Sandy of Glen Carbon, Illinois. three granddaughters, Amy Frey of Edwardsville, Il, Kelly Mills and husband Joe of Crawfordsville, IN and Laura Frey of Durango, CO; four great grandchildren, Ellie, Evan and Max Mills of Crawfordsville, IN, Lola Grace Frey of Edwardsville, IL.

Mrs. Frey was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rev. David F. Frey; two brothers, Carl and John Sievert; one sister, Marie Walck.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Sigel, IL, Lutheran's For Life, or Family Life Pregnancy Center of Effingham, IL.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, May 26 in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Sigel, Illinois with Pastors Glenn Strohschein and Earl Brown officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday in the church and for one hour before the services on Saturday. Burial will be in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery of Sigel, Illinois. The Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, is in charge of arrangements.
