Catherine G. Carson, 76, of Brownstown died at 7:09am Monday, May 14, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield with her family by her side.

Funeral services will be at 10:30am Saturday, May 19 at Liberty Christian Church, rural Brownstown with Rev. John Koch officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8pm Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to Liberty Cemetery or Fayette County Hospital. Gieseking-Claggett Funeral Home in Brownstown is assisting the family.

Catherine Grace Carson was born on Tuesday, September 2, 1941 at home in Sefton Township to Mike and Thelma (Taylor) Friese. She married Virgil Junior Carson on August 5, 1960 before the Justice of the Peace in Effingham. She was a homemaker in every sense of the word and worked alongside her husband as they raised their family. Family and friends enjoyed her cooking skills throughout years, and the many friendships that resulted. She was a member of Liberty Christian Church.

She will be missed by her husband of over 57 years, Virgil Junior Carson, of Brownstown; son, Duane Carson and his wife Tammy of Brownstown; daughters, Dana Morris and her husband Eric of Altamont and Denise McElroy and her husband Ryan of Assumption; 7 grandchildren, Kevin (Jennifer) Morris, Eddie (Kayla) Carson, Katie (Taevan) Schad, Chloe Carson, Lucas, Gabe and Nathan McElroy; 2 great granddaughters, Hannah and Kassie Morris; sister, Doris Welch of Casper, Wyoming; and many nieces and nephews.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents and infant son, Daniel Jason Carson.
