Lloyd Tarrant, 66, of Shumway died Friday, May 4, 2018 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham. Burial will be in Rentfrow Cemetery in Shumway with military rites. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service all at the church. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to Rentfrow Cemetery, Effingham County Humane Society, or the Shumway Volunteer Fire Department. Lloyd was born on November 6, 1951, in Effingham, IL, the son of Jesse O. and Madonna I. (Hildebrand) Tarrant. He was united in marriage to Karen Heitgerd on April 29, 1976, in Effingham.Lloyd graduated from Effingham High School in 1970. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, stationed in San Diego, CA, from 1971 to 1975.

Lloyd retired from Lewis Bakeries after working 30 years as a route salesman. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham. He served as President of the Rentfrow Cemetery Board for many years.He also served on the Shumway Village Board. Lloyd was an active member of the Shumway Volunteer Fire Department for the last 27 years.

Lloyd was always ready, willing, and able to lend a helping hand; whether it was to a family member, a neighbor, or a stranger. He enjoyed cooking, tinkering in his garage, and doing remodeling projects with his wife and two daughters.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Karen Tarrant of Shumway; daughters, Kimberly Tarrant of Altamont and Andrea (Blake) Rennels of Charleston; brothers, Michael Tarrant and Thomas (Julie) Tarrant both of Effingham; one niece; and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Stanley Tarrant.
