Mildred L. “Mick” Miller, 92, of Effingham, formerly of Mason, IL, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Lakeland Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Effingham, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, May 5 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Bible Grove, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Community Support Systems or St. Paul’s Women Guild.

Mildred was born on January 6, 1926, in Lucas Township, Dieterich, IL, the daughter of William and Clara (Landwehr) Kluthe. She was united in marriage to Richard F. Miller on November 9, 1947 at St. Paul’s Evangelical and Reformed Church of Bible Grove. He preceded her in death on December 12, 1985. Mick worked as a waitress at the Bee-Hive restaurant and as a switch board operator at the Telephone Company. In August of 1980, she received her GED at the age of 54. Mick was a homemaker until she returned to work after the passing of her husband. She was a cook a Camp Walter Scott and was an election judge for 30 years. Mick assisted adults with special needs at CSS (formerly known as ARC) for ten years before retiring at the age of 75. Mick was known for her “pies,” especially her coconut pie. She was a member of St. Paul’s Church, Bible Grove, where she served on the church council, was a member of the Women’s Guild, and taught Sunday School. Mick was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Mick is survived by her daughters, Connie (Jerry) Greene of Snellville, GA, Leah (Paul) Niemerg of Dieterich, and Paula Miller of Mason; son, Kurt (Darla) Miller of Troy; grandchildren, Eryn Greene, Devon (Jessica) Greene, Brannon Greene (friend, Chelsea), Kendra (Eric) Wente, Jason (Gina) Niemerg, Adam (Valerie) Niemerg, Cara (Bruce) Brummer, Christopher (Jessica) Miller, and Eric Miller; 16 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Anna Mae Gibson, Gerry Miller, and Phyllis Miller all of Effingham.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rich; sister, Alliene Traub; father-in-law and mother-in-law Frank and Caroline Miller; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
