Betty Elmore, 74, of Mason, IL, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL after her battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 19 at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N 4th St., Effingham. Burial will be in Bethsaida Cemetery, Effingham County on the Mason-Eberle Road. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Bethsaida Cemetery Fund or the donor’s choice.

Betty was born on March 5, 1944, at home in German Township, Richland County Illinois, the daughter of William "Hartwell" and Mildred (Nease) Adamson. She was united in marriage to Sheldon Elmore on June 17, 1962 at First United Methodist Church in Olney, IL. They celebrated 55 years of marriage last June. Betty loved gardening, flowers, sewing, and NASCAR. For the last 56 years, Betty farmed alongside her husband. She was always a hardworker. She was known for her pie crusts and clean house and yard. Betty also enjoyed spending time fishing with her grandchildren. Most importantly, she was a thoughtful and caring wife, mother, and grandmother.

Betty is survived by her husband, Sheldon Elmore of Mason; children, Kendall (Alice) Elmore of rural Dieterich, Sonja (Richard "Dick") Deibel of Effingham, Connie (Alan) Klinc of Springfield, IL, and Kent Elmore of rural Dieterich; grandchildren, Eric Deibel, Sara Deibel, Travis Elmore, Tyler Elmore, and Maggie Klinc; sisters, Bonnie (Harvey) Scherer of Olney and Sally (Larry) Cullop of Vincennes, IN; brothers, Jerry (Linda) Adamson of Lawrenceville, Leland (Angie) Adamson of Effingham; sisters-in-law, Claire Elmore of Wheeler, Rosemary Elmore of Newton, Ada Elmore of Dieterich, and Beverly (Paul Dean) Flinn of Milton, FL; brothers-in-law, Loren (Norma Jean) Elmore of Johnsonville, Vonley Elmore and Roscoe Elmore both of Wheeler.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
