Thomas E. "Tom" Koons (59) of rural Neoga

Thomas E. "Tom" Koons, 59, of rural Neoga, Illinois, passed away at 7:58 P.M. Friday, April 6, 2018 at his residence.

Tom was born July 8, 1958 in Mattoon, Illinois, the son of Edwin O. and Judy (Parker) Simpson. He married Martha York July 6, 2002, in Hidden Springs State Park in Shelby County, Illinois, he was a Maintenance man for the Northern Estates Trailer Park. Tom enjoyed being with his family, friends and his Mother, Judy meant the world to him. He also had a great love for all of animals.

Tom leaves his loving wife, Martha Koons of Neoga, IL; mother, Judy Simpson of Charleston, IL; six children, Tommy Koons of Neoga, IL, Jamie Poppe (Virginia) of Pleasanton, KS, Jodi McGee (Kevin) and Andrea York all of Charleston, IL, Tiffany Roemer (Scott) of Clear Water, FL and Courtney Herrington (Sean) of Paris, IL; two sisters, Rebecca Atwood (Rob) of Barberton, OH and Ann Simpson of Charleston, IL; three brothers, John Simpson and Tim Simpson both of Charleston, IL and Dennis Simpson of Mattoon, IL.

Mr. Koons was preceded in death by his Step-father, John Simpson and one son, Nathan Spidle.

Memorials may be made to the family in care of Martha Koons,  24 County Rd., 850 N., Neoga, IL  62447.

As per the wished of Mr. Koons, his body will be Cremated and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, IL is in charge of arrangements.
