Mardell A. Buenker, 78, of Teutopolis, IL, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at her home in Teutopolis, IL, surrounded by her loving family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday April 9 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Teutopolis. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Mardell was born on November 30, 1939, in Montrose, IL, the daughter of Adolph and Florence (Heuerman) Will. She was united in marriage to Donald Buenker on February 7, 1959.

Mardell was a very devoted wife of fifty-nine years. She was a homemaker, loved to garden, enjoyed canning and helped with the family farm. Mardell especially liked to quilt. She volunteered with Catholic Charities for over twenty years. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and the Ladies’ Sodality.

Mardell is survived by her loving husband, Donald Buenker of Teutopolis; children, Wanda (Paul) Redmond, Sandy (Karl) Jansen, Dwayne “Chop” Buenker, Deanna (Kyle) Budde, and Kevin (Michelle) Buenker; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Roger (Ruth) Will, Alfie (Delores) Will, Maurice Will, Sonny (Sharon) Will, Kurt (Tracey) Will; sisters, Vera Kroeger, Toots (Dan) Flood, Alice (John) Hendrix, Rita (Ralph) Wendt, and Annette (Duane) Niemerg.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and son, Allan Buenker.
