Lloyd William Galloway age 88 of Newton passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Lavender Ridge, Olney, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Lloyd’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 4 at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton with Bro. Carroll Ross officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Honey Cemetery, Bogota. Memorial gifts in honor of Lloyd may be made to the Honey Cemetery Care Fund.

Lloyd was born on July 18, 1929 in South Muddy Township, Jasper County, Illinois the son of Oliver H. and Cora Francis (Pugh) Galloway. On June 20, 1952, Lloyd married Helen Faye Gosnell. She survives. Lloyd spent his life as a truck driver. He hauled seed corn for Funk’s Seed for thirty years and later grain and rock for Danny Cox until his retirement. Lloyd was a faithful member of the Bogota Church of Christ, having served as church superintendent for many years. He served as Smallwood Township trustee for thirty-five years and was a forty-five year member of the Mid-West Truckers Association. Lloyd enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Beagle Club. Enjoying country music, Lloyd and Helen attended the area Opry’s on a weekly basis. Whether playing cards or listening to music, Lloyd enjoyed visiting with friends.

Lloyd will be loved and remembered by his wife of sixty-five years Helen Galloway of Lavender Ridge, Olney; children Cathy (Kenny) Shew of Newton, Lindell C. (Joan) Galloway of Flora, and Cheryl (Greg) Ginder of Olney; grandchildren Amy (Shane) Mashburn, Melissa (Jim) Brooks, Jeremy W. Shew, Matthew Galloway, Emily (Justin) Landreth, Ross Ginder and Paige Ginder; great grandchildren Landon & Claudia Mashburn, Sydney & Seth Brooks, Alexa Gibbons, and Brendan & Beckett Landreth; great great grandchild Kayson Mashburn; brother Larry (Patricia) Galloway of Newton.

His parents, son David W. Galloway, sister and brother-in-law Marilyn and Stan Matteson, infant sister Ina Marie Galloway, and sister-in-law Phyllis Galloway preceded him in death.
