Adlene M. "Addy" Vaughn, 95, of Effingham, formerly of Mattoon died on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, surrounded by her loving family.

Private family graveside services with be held at Beecher City Cemetery in Beecher City, IL. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Addy was born on August 18, 1922, in Uncas, OK, the daughter of Guss and Ruby (Newton) Bowman. Addy graduated from Carter Nine High School in 1940 before moving to Illinois. She was united in marriage to Bill C. Vaughn on November 21, 1942. He preceded her in death after 50 years of marriage on December 6, 1992. Addy owned and operated a beauty shop in her home for over 30 years. She was a charter member of Mattoon Christian Church and attended the First Christian Church in Effingham. Addy was an avid pinochle and Skip-Bo player and a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals and University of Illinois fan. She also found joy in camping and fishing.

Addy is survived by her two daughters, Judy (Ron) Greene of Effingham and Linda (Ken) Roth of The Villages, FL; five grandchildren, Troy (Patty) Greene of Effingham, Jill (Kevin) Dust of Effingham, Gary (Jennifer) Greene of Effingham, Shane (Jodi) Roth of Laguna Hills, CA, and Chad (Nicole) Roth of Gainesville, FL; eleven great-grandchildren, Jordan Amlong, Kelsea Dust, Niko Dust, Connor Greene, Ethan Greene, Averee Greene, Anna Greene, Madison Roth, Eli Roth, Graidy Roth, and Alexie Roth; one step-great-granddaughter, Haley Dust; and four step-great-great-grandchildren, Helena Longoria, Honor Longoria, Hope Longoria, and Harmony Longoria.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, William Lloyd Bowman and Winfred Jess Bowman; and a great-grandson, Emerson Vaughn Roth.
