Joanne Goers (77) of St. Peters, Missouri

Joanne Goers, 77, of St. Peters, Missouri, died at 1:25 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Villages of St. Peter’s, St. Peter’s, MO.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church, St. Peter’s, Missouri with Rev. Mark Hoehner officiating. Visitation will for one hour prior to service time at the church. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Union Cemetery, Altamont, IL with Rev. Bernard M. Ross officiating. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church Building Fund or the donor’s choice.

Joanne Goers was born on Friday, May 3, 1940 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Wilson A. and Vesta B. (Smith) Russell. She married Michael G. Goers on January 7, 1972 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. During their 38 years of marriage she moved with her Mike’s job and lived in Tulsa, Memphis, and finally Dallas. She loved painting and crafts and for a number of years worked in a craft store in Texas. After his retirement, they moved to St. Peter’s, Missouri and she continued her crafts at home.

Joanne is survived by her brother; Bill Russell and his wife Debbie of Argyle, TX; 2 nephews, David Russell and his wife Milaidi of Bogota, Colombia and Travis Latham and his wife Sandra of Round Rock, TX; 4 nieces, Julie Reedy and her husband Dusty of Cypress, Tx, Jamie Schoeling and her husband Dale of Edmond, OK, Rebecca Upchurch and her husband Bruce of Mason, TN, and Kendra Winterhalter of Stillwater, OK; 19 great nieces and great nephews; 7 great-great nieces and great-great nephews; many cousins; and her beloved pet, Katie.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
