Samuel Lee Beals (79) of Altamont

Samuel Lee Beals, 79, of Altamont, died at 2:25 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2018 at his home.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 24 at the First United Methodist Church, Altamont, with Rev. Paige Roberts officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Interment of ashes will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the donors’ choice. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Sam was born on Sunday, October 23, 1938 in Effingham County to John H. and Mildred (Beals) Beals. He married Patricia K. Freeman on December 31, 1962 in Corinth MS, and she survives. Sam was a member of the Shumway United Methodist Church but had attended the Altamont FUMC for the last several years. He was a retired USPS Letter Carrier and had served in the National Guard. He was a sports advocate and a race horse owner and trainer.

In addition to his wife he is survived by sons; Tim Beals of Indianapolis and Grant Beals of Effingham; brother; Robert (Sally) Beals of North Lauderdale FL, and grandchildren; Brittany, Brent and Bria Beals.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
