Mary Alice Thornton, 92, of Toledo, IL passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Heartland Christian Village in Neoga, IL.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo is assisting the family.

Mary was born on December 6, 1925 in Mattoon, IL to Lawrence and Ruby Bosley. She married Harold (Harry) Thornton on September 25, 1948. He preceded her in death in 1985. Surviving are her daughters Jean (Bob) Carr of Toledo and Betty (Joe) Croy of Ennis, MT; four grandchildren Stephanie Dobbs, Rob (Sheila) Carr, Jamie Butler, Michelle (Mike) Ferestad; nine great-grandchildren Logan Dobbs, Sage, Ava and Jade Carr, Connor, Cayden and Emma Butler, Tristen and Damian Mundahl. One sister Emily Rhine, two brothers Dave (Barb) Bosley and Ed Bosley. She was preceded in death by brothers Don and Jack and sisters Betty Clark, Joan Bartimus and Rose Batcheldor.

Mary was a homemaker, wife, mother and partner on the family farm in rural Toledo until the death of Harry. Shortly after this she made her home in Toledo. She attended the United Methodist Church in Toledo as long as she was able. She enjoyed helping with her grandchildren and the company of family and friends.
