Melvin P. "Mel" Weber, 63, of Teutopolis, IL formerly of Florissant, MO passed away at 10:55 A.M. Saturday, February 24, 2018, at the HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

As per Mel’s wishes, his body will be cremated and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, February 27 at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Monday with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at the church. The Swengel-O’Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, IL is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Effingham Area DeColores, Effingham Area Catholic Charities or St. Francis Church.

Mel was born July 12, 1954, in Effingham, IL, the son of Charles and Adeline (Esker) Weber. He married Nancy Waldhoff on September 6, 1975 in Teutopolis, IL. Mel graduated from Teutopolis High School and Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, IL.  Mel was a controller for North American Energy Services in Effingham, IL. He was active in the DeColores of Effingham area and the Knights of Columbus in Teutopolis, IL. Mel enjoyed most being with his God, his family, his friends, his Contemporary Christian music, life in his flower garden – alone or with others and working for his God.

Mel leaves his wife, Nancy Weber of Teutopolis, IL; one son, Charles "CJ" Weber of Ft. Myers, FL; three daughters, Mandy (Brian) Henning of Effingham, IL, Jaclyn (Dale) Langhorst of Rising Fawn, GA and Melayne (Rickie) Mitchell of Teutopolis, IL; his mother, Adeline Barclay of Teutopolis, IL; three brothers, Rockney (Nila) Weber of Effingham, IL, Mark (Pauline) Weber of Teutopolis, IL and Jeff (Kathe) Weber of Alton, IL; one sister, Karen Caravella of Teutopolis, IL; his father-in-law, John Waldhoff, and eleven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Weber; Stepfather, Bill Barclay and mother-in-law, Dorothy Waldhoff.
