Alice M. Watson, 72, of Effingham, IL, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at her home.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 26 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday with a 6:30 p.m. CCW rosary all at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Meals on Wheels, or HSHS Hospice Southern Illinois.

Alice was born on December 6, 1945, in Teutopolis, IL, the daughter of John and Josephine (Nosbisch) Bloemer. She was united in marriage to James P. Watson on February 24, 1968, in St. Louis, MO. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this month. Alice grew up in Green Creek in a large family of eleven children. After graduating from Teutopolis High School in 1964, she moved to St. Louis and attended IBM school. After marrying in 1968, she moved to Eldorado, IL to raise a family. Alice enjoyed playing softball and bowled on a league for many years. She loved playing cards and games, gardening, sewing, quilting, and crocheting. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham. Alice loved life and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Alice is survived by her loving husband, James Watson of Effingham; children, Tina (David) Timmer of Moline, Paula (Trent) Schmid of Teutopolis, Wesley (Jamie) Watson of Shelbyville, and Douglas (Shawn) Pashea of Bethalto; grandchildren, Alyssa and Evan Timmer, Jordan Williams, Julia Schmid, and Claudia, Cade, and Chloe Watson; 2 great-grandchildren; siblings, Joann Deters, Dorie (Bob) Deters, Mardell (Sam) Sheehan, Judy (Steve) Wells, Kathy (David) O’Rourke, David (Judy) Bloemer, Diane (Kenny) Kreke, Danny (Cindy) Bloemer, and Debbie (Kevin) Weber; and sister-in-law, Pam Bloemer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Jack Bloemer.
