Marie A. Schoenhoff, 89, of Effingham, passed away Thursday afternoon, February 15, 2018 surrounded by her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 20 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of service Tuesday morning in St. Clare Hall. Memorial donations may be made to the donor’s choice.

Marie was born March 28, 1928 in Sigel, the daughter of Henry and Dora (Kettman) Buening. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Teutopolis and the Effingham Right to Life. Marie did not know a stranger and had a personality that children were drawn to. She enjoyed helping others, including taking friends to appointments, bringing meals to her home bound friends, and donating to many organizations. Marie enjoyed dancing and listening to music. She retired from World Color Press in Effingham after many years of service.

Marie is survived by her two daughters, Brenda (Tim) Myers of Watson and Joyce (Marvin) Rice of Wayne City; six grandchildren, Justin (Heather) Antrim, Rachel Stults, Kasey Gutkuecht, Zach (Rachel) Myers, Angela (Jesse) Koester and Melissa Strobel; thirteen great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews also survive.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Albert, Norbert, Walter, Raymond, John, Joe, Henry, Ann Dallas and Madonna Kink and grandson-in-law, Russell Strobel.
