Katherine (Katina) Curtis, age 80, of Effingham, formerly of Watson, Illinois passed away at 6:27 a.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 17 at Watson United Methodist Church in Watson, Illinois. There will be a one-hour viewing prior to the service. Jim Whitaker will be officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church. Memorials may go to Watson United Methodist Church, American Cancer Society or the donor’s choice.

Katina was born on September 20, 1937 in Yorkville, Ohio, the daughter of Thomas and Helen (Zumbandis) Marconis. She was an active member at the Watson United Methodist Church where she loved attending Tuesday Morning Bible Study. She was very creative and resilient. In her later years, even after losing most of her eyesight, she took great joy in crocheting hats and donating them to various organizations, schools, or anyone that needed them.

She is survived by her son, Michael Jacobs; three daughters, Mary Ann Holland of Effingham, Illinois, Michelle Arnold (husband Chuck) of Watson, IL, Teresa Curtis of Madison, Wisconsin; one sister, Anna Sevigny of Lancaster, Ohio; five grandchildren, Matthew Arnold (wife Kristy) of Effingham, Illinois, Candace Wortman (husband Jesse) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Drue Van Meter (husband Bobby) of Parker, Colorado, Louis Koester ( wife Rachel) of St. Louis, Missouri and Jennifer Holland of Madison, Wisconsin; six great-grandchildren, Lyla and Liam Van Meter, Eva Koester, Avery Arnold, Risher and Rowen Wortman and two nieces, Cecile Audry and Toni Sater.

Katina was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Helen Marconis; brother-in-law, Leon Sevigny; nieces, Helen Sevigny and Jeanne Hutchinson.
