Loren A. Gallion, Sr. age 96 of Ste. Marie, Illinois passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Helia Healthcare Center, Olney, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3 at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton with Pastor Nate Hagen officiating.  Visitation will be held Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Dundas Cemetery, Dundas, Illinois.

Loren was born on June 22, 1921 in Wynona, Oklahoma, the son of William A. and Bessie (McKay) Gallion. On December 20, 1941, Loren married Mamie L. McClary. She survives. Loren served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corp. For many years, Loren worked in the oil fields for the Pure Oil Company. He later worked for Fischer Control Company in Princeton, Texas until his retirement. Loren and Mamie enjoyed camping, traveling, and spending time with one another. Loren also enjoyed “tinkering” in his work shop. Through the years, he built a dune buggy and became certified to repair radios and televisions through a correspondence course.

Loren will be loved and remembered by his wife of seventy-six years Mamie Gallion of Olney, son Loren (Carolyn) Gallion, Jr. of Noble, daughter Joyce L. Clark of Willow Hill; nine grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, and thirty-seven great great grandchildren; brothers Curtis Gallion of Channahon, IL and John Gallion of Bridgeport, IL; sister-in-laws Betty Gallion of Oblong and Donna Gallion of Pawnee, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

His parents, brothers Delbert, Lawrence, J. D. and Vernon Gallion and sisters Florence Cox and Wanda Schaffer preceded him in death.
