Carl A. Stortzum, 57, of Beecher City, died at 11:56 p.m. Monday, January 29, 2018 at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, February 3 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont. Visitation will be for 2 hours prior to service time. Memorials may be made to the donors’ choice.

Carl was born on Friday, January 27, 1961 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to Arno Herman John and Mary Evelyn Fitts Stortzum. He married Connie Sue Hills on September 5, 1987 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham, and she survives. Carl was employed as a machinist at SIM Products, Shumway, for over 30 years.

In addition to his wife, Carl is survived by his son, Camren Stortzum of Beecher City; step son, Murdoch Mackenzie of Altamont; step daughter, Dawn Mackenzie of Cowden; brother, Jack (Emma) Stortzum of Kaiser, MO; sister, Lynda Stortzum of Effingham; mother-in-law, Dorothy Gabbard of St. Elmo and 6 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 grandson, and his father-in-law, Charles W. Hills.
