Todd P. Arnold, 53, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018 in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 2 at the Watson United Methodist Church in Watson. Burial will be in Watson Cemetery in Watson. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Altamont Community High School. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made to Altamont Community High School Athletic Department.

Todd was born on June 8, 1964, in Effingham, IL, the son of Robert “Bob” and Carol (Phillips) Arnold. He grew up in Watson, IL and graduated from Effingham High School in 1982. In high school, Todd played basketball, baseball, and ran cross country. He then attended Fresno State for two years and was the manager of the basketball team. In 1984, he transferred to Eastern Illinois University and graduated in 1987.

Todd had two sons with Laura (Wortman) Arnold, Tyler Todd born on November 3, 1988, and Trent Paul born on January 17, 1991. In 1993, Todd worked and coached in Palestine, IL and also student coached at Dieterich, IL. In 1994, he moved to Effingham and began teaching and coaching in Altamont. He became the head basketball coach at Altamont Community High School in 1997 and became Assistant Principal of Altamont Grade School in August of 1998. While working at Altamont he was a teacher and coach and currently the athletic director and assistant principal at the high school.

Todd mowed yards and landscaped for almost 20 years. He enjoyed playing golf, being outdoors, and collecting coins. He liked music from the 80’s, especially Prince. He also was an avid fan of the North Carolina Tar Heels, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Todd is survived by his sons, Tyler Todd Arnold, Trent Paul Arnold, and Travis (Theresa Nuxoll) Pruemer all of Effingham; parents, Bob and Carol Arnold of Watson; brother, Mitch Arnold of Effingham; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.                          

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jim and Glenna Arnold; and maternal grandparents, Eugene and Marie Phillips.
