Marianne Larimer, age 59, of Salem, died Tuesday at her home.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30am Saturday, March 17, 2018 at East Lawn Cemetery in Salem. Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem is in charge of arrangements.

She was born in Salem on March 21, 1958, the daughter of Dwight W. and Patricia Larimer. Marianne was a graduate of Salem High School where she developed a passion for volleyball. She furthered her studies at Millikin University in Decatur and excelled in both volleyball and basketball as a member of the Big Blue. She went on to receive her Master's degre from Eastern Illinois University. Marianne was a teacher and coach at Bement, Arcola, Casey-Westfield, Effingham St. Anthony and Salem High Schools. She also served as principal at St. Theresa Grade School in Salem. Marianne enjoyed teaching, coaching and working with young people. Coach Larimer would be the first to reach out to a young person in need.

Marianne is survived by her mother, Patricia of Salem; sister, Terri Larimer of Salem; brothers, Mark Larimer and wife Lynn of Salem and Tim Larimer of New York City; nieces, Mary and husband Pete of Cincinnati, Ohio, Anna and husband Tom of Manhattan, Kansas, Sarah of Washington, DC, and Katy and husband Matt of St. Louis; and one nephew, Jack of New York City. She is also survived by her dear great nieces and nephews, Will, Maple, Micah and Rose and special friends Eli and Fay.
