Margaret Ann Tally, 87, of Altamont died at 8:37 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 27 at the First United Methodist Church, Altamont with Rev. Paige Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Altamont. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Friday at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont and for one hour prior to service time at the church. Memorials may be made to Whoo Hoo Sisterhood, Altamont Garden Club, First United Methodist Church, or the donor’s choice.

Margaret was born on Saturday, November 22, 1930 in Mounds, Illinois to Zon and Mary (Turner) Vick. She married M. William Tally on May 12, 1951 in Piggott, Arkansas and they enjoyed over 64 years of marriage before his death on May 29, 2015. Margaret was a homemaker and was an Avon representative for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Altamont, Gieseking-Schwerdtfeger VFW Post 7676 Auxiliary, St. Elmo Golf Club, served as an election judge for Mound Township, Meals-on-Wheels and Blood Drive volunteer and a Girl Scout Leader.

Margaret is survived by her son, Gregory Tally and his wife Lyn of Springfield; daughter, Cindy Gebben and her husband Mark of Casey; grandchildren, Tony Gebben and his wife Brittany of Lockport, Jennifer Edwards and her husband Ryan of Ocoee, FL, Grace Tally and Jay Tally of Springfield; great granddaughter Emily Gebben. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Rose Mary Jones.
