Richard L. "Dick" Lewis, 77, of Newton died at 3:58pm Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Newton Care Center in Newton.

Funeral services celebrating Dick’s life will be held at 3:00 PM – Saturday, January 27 at the First Baptist Church in Newton, Illinois, with Stephen Willis officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church. In loving memory of Richard, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or Sons of American Legion Squadron #20. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.

Richard better known as “Dick” was born on December 11, 1940, in Newton, Illinois, the son of Walter and Dorothy (Whightsel) Lewis. Dick married Pat Williford on February 24, 1962, in Hammond, Indiana. Dick was a mechanic at Inland Steel of East Chicago for 40 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Newton and the Sons of American Legion Squadron #16 of Munster, Indiana. Dick was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his friends for conversation and coffee.

Dick is survived by: Wife of 55 years - Pat Lewis of Newton, Illinois; Nephew - Terry (Tracie) Wilson of Munster, Indiana; Niece - Ronda (James) Carr of DeMotte, Indiana; Great Nieces - Sara Wilson, Karen Carr and Olivia Carr; Great Nephew - Noah Wilson; Several cousins also survive.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents.
