Patricia A. “Patti” Ball, 82, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
A celebration of life gathering will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 20 at Southside Baptist Church in the fellowship hall. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Patricia was born on November 25, 1935, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Louie and Dora (Byrnes) Rogers. She was united in marriage to Jimmie K. Ball on August 22, 1953, and he preceded her in death on November 22, 2000. Patricia was one of the first female truck drivers. In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband. She always enjoyed time with family and friends and liked to crochet and do crafts. Patricia was a terrific mother and well liked and loved by everyone.
Patricia is survived by her children, Sandra (Walt) Edwards of Modesto, CA, Deborah Parvin of Effingham, Vicki Applegate of Ellettsville, IN, Dennis Ball of Lawrence, NE, Pam Eldridge of Sturgis, MI, and Ronald (Mildred) Ball of Lenhartsville, PA; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Richard (Sharon) Rogers of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jimmie; and sister, Mary Smothers.
