Sterling Lee Crockett, 89, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 17 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery at Wrights Corner in Loudon Township, IL. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials made be made to the New Life United Pentecostal Church in Effingham.

Sterling was born on February 21, 1928, in Beech Grove, AR, the son of Marvin and Martha (Bennett) Crockett. Sterling was an avid gardener and loved to crack hickory nuts. He loved kids and animals, but his first love was to Jesus. He was a faithful member of New Life Pentecostal Church in Effingham. Sterling loved reading, especially the Bible which he read through six times in one year.

Sterling is survived by his brothers, Eudorse (Beverly) Crockett and Randall (Brenda) Crockett; and sister, Lois (Fred) Miller, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marie, Lucille, Wanda, Mozel, and Bonnie; and brothers, J.W., Kenneth, Carl, Randall Virgil, and Stanley.
