Mark “Hairbone” “Harold” Harrington, 59, of rural Teutopolis, IL, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 4 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Fear Nothing in Effingham County.

Mark was born on April 13, 1958, in Flora, IL, the son of Raymond and Mary (King) Harrington. He married Linda Jansen on April 12, 1986. Together they raised a son, Jacob “Jake” Harrington. Mark was a loving and doting grandpa to Colton and Ava. He worked at Sandschafer Electric for over 30 years. He also maintained area oil wells. Mark enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He always made people smile with his stories, teasing, and tormenting. Mark enjoyed visits to Ping’s, riding his Harley and boating. He was a wine hobbyist. Mark was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and the Teutopolis Knights of Columbus.

Mark is survived by his wife, Linda Harrington of rural Teutopolis; son, Jacob (Anyssa) Harrington of rural Teutopolis; grandchildren, Colton and Ava; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Anthony “Toby” and Mardell Jansen of Green Creek; brothers, Gary (Mary) Harrington of Watson and Kurt (Marcy) Harrington of Effingham; uncles, Don (Becky) Harrington of Louisville and Charles (Joy) King of Teutopolis; aunt, Treva (Jerry) Weidner of Bridgeport; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother, Floyd Ernest.
