Dwane E. Kessler, 65, of Stewardson, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon.

Visitation will be on Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson.  Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at the Strasburg United Methodist Church with Reverend Dave Ducommon officiating.  Burial will be at the Stewardson Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Strasburg United Methodist Church.  Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson is assisting the family.

Dwane was born on December 27, 1952, in Shelbyville, the son of Dwight and Waneta Mae (Arnold) Kessler.  On July 27, 1975 he and Candie Thomas were united in marriage.  Dwane worked various jobs through the years.  For the past 20 years, he drove bus for the Stew-Stras school district which he truly enjoyed.  He was an active member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Candie of Stewardson; three children: Jessica (Jason) Howe of Mode, Christopher (Shanna) Kessler of Strasburg and Travis (Danyelle) Kessler of Dieterich; ten grandchildren: Jordyn, Jansyn, Jaelyn and Jacob Howe, Tyson, Seaver and Walter Kessler, Grace Taylor, Tradan and Turner Kessler; one great-granddaughter, Hadley Thrush; three sisters: Sharon (Gilbert) Siebert of Altamont, Charlotte (Carl) West of Effingham and Katherine Saylor of St. Louis, MO and brother-in-law, John (Mary Jane) Waters of Beecher City.

Preceding him in death were his parents, sisters Ruth Waters and Barbara Diane Kessler.
