Mary Lois Hayes, age 87, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 9:40 AM – Sunday, December 24, 2017, at Newton Care Center in Newton, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Lois will be held at 11:00 AM – Thursday, December 28 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Mike Knepper officiating. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 1 hour before the services.

Mary Lois was born on November 5, 1930, in Mattoon, Illinois, the daughter of Rolla Cecil and Loritta (Songer) Bieber. She married George Stanley Hayes on February 26, 1950, at Springhill Church north of St. Elmo, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on June 13, 2011. Lois worked with her husband at Hayes Repair Shop in Newton for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newton, Illinois. She enjoyed square dancing, camping and fishing.

Lois is survived by: Sons – John (Kathy) Hayes of Newton, Illinois and Tim (Carolyn Hayes of Newton, Illinois; Daughter-in-law – Debbie Hayes of Robinson, Illinois; Granchildren – Jason (Mary) Hayes of Dieterich, Illinois; Jared (Adrienne) Hayes of Manhattan, Kansas; Brandon (Tara) McKinney of Paducah, Kentucky; Amanda (Brett) Lessley of Newton, Illinois; Courtney (Brad) Page of Union, Kentucky; Ross (Jill) Hayes of Dixon, Illinois; Jason Beard of Robinson, Illinois; Todd (Jennifer) Miller of Normal, Illinois and Kevin (Beth) Miller of Teutopolis, Illinois; and 22 Great Grandchildren.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Ed Hayes and a brother George Bieber.
