Floyd Leroy Marshall, age 81, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 8:03 PM - Saturday, December 23, 2017, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Floyd’s life will be held at 10:30 AM – Friday, December 29 at Scott Avenue Christian Church in Newton, Illinois. Burial will be in the Trexler Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 4:00 - 7:00 PM –Thursday at the church. In loving memory of Floyd, memorials may be made to the Eagle for Life Endowment Fund PO Box 1211, Effingham, Illinois 62401. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.

Floyd was born on August 5, 1936, in Jasper County, Illinois, the son of Bernard and Ruby (Kincaid) Marshall. He married Mary Marlene Johnson on November 3, 1956, at the Latona Church of Christ in Latona, Illinois, and she preceded her in death on December 14, 2017. Floyd was a lifelong livestock and grain farmer and a school bus driver for the Jasper County Unit No. 1 School system for 22 years. Floyd was a member of the Scott Avenue Christian Church in Newton, Illinois.

Floyd is survived by: Children – Brenda (Dick) Horner of Vandalia, Illinois and Brian (Susan) Marshall of Dundas, Illinois; Grandchildren – Sarah (Brad) Horner of Dundas, Illinois; Amy (Travis) Tarr of Newton, Illinois; Cassi (Chad) Williams of Dundas, Illinois; Willam Johnson of Olney, Illinois; Great Grandchildren – Maddox Horner, Maverick Horner, Cole Horner, Marshall Tarr, Meyer Tarr, Marlee Tarr, Breanna Williams, Gauge Williams and Maci Williams; Brothers – Dean Marshall and Kenny (Linda) Marshall all of Newton, Illinois; Sisters – Rosie McGee and Susie Andrews both of Newton, Illinois.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary of 61 years, brothers Don and Roy Dale Marshall and a sister Dema Millsap.
